Homemade Motor

This homemade motor was a fun project to apply simple principles of electromagnets. It commutates similarly to a brushed motor. I achieve this by stripping the insulation from half the circumference of each side of the coil. It is energized when these are in contact with the "brushes" causing an attraction with the magnet. It stays energized until the exposed part of the wire is no longer in contact with the "brushes". It maintains momentum and gets re-energized over and over keeping it spinning.
